House Lights for Jellyfin

Support

For help, email chris.kellet@kedos.co.uk. Say which device you're on, the app's version (Settings, under About) and your Jellyfin server's version.

The app can't find my server

Type the address you'd use in a web browser, such as http://192.168.1.20:8096 or https://jellyfin.example.com. If you type just a host name, the app tries HTTPS and port 8096 for you.

On iPhone and iPad, the app needs Local Network access to reach a server at home. If you declined it, turn it back on in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network.

Signing in fails

Check the user name and password in Jellyfin's web app first. To sign in without a password, choose Quick Connect and approve the code from a Jellyfin app you're already signed in to. Quick Connect has to be switched on by the server's administrator, in Jellyfin's dashboard.

My server is behind Cloudflare Access

On iPhone and iPad, the Access sign-in opens in a sheet when you connect. On Apple TV, create a service token in Cloudflare Zero Trust, allow it in the application's policy, and enter its ID and secret when the app asks.

A video won't start, or keeps stopping

Try a lower Streaming Quality in Settings. Files your device can't play natively are converted by your server, so if only some files fail, check that transcoding works in Jellyfin's dashboard and that the server isn't running out of processing power.

Downloads

Downloads are on iPhone and iPad. They're the original file, so they play at full quality and take as much room as they do on the server. Download over Wi-Fi Only is on by default; change it in Settings.

What you need

An iPhone, iPad or Apple TV with the current system software (version 26 or later), and a Jellyfin server running 10.9 or later.
